I don't like them, but they are the most overrated Disney couple. No other DP couple, save Punzie and Eugene, gets as much love from fans.

They're not bad, I just don't know that they hold up to the lofty title of "greatest romance ever told".

Agree about them being the most overrated couple, disagree about liking them. This is my second least favorite DP couple and it's just because it's more nostalgic to me and important for story than Shang and Mulan, my absolute least favorite.

I don't think they're an overrated couple.

The whole movie is dedicated to developing their romance, and not just forcing them together just for the sake of it like in the classics or the revival. They completely earn to be "the greatest disney romance".

^I didn't feel that their love "blossomed." Instead, I saw it more that she "volunteered to stay with an abusive guy to get her father out of a jam," and then the abusive guy/captor fell for her because of close proximity.

I'd hardly call that situation "romantic," but B&TB has never been my favorite fairytale, period. The Disney version makes the-fall-in-love-with-your-captor-thing even more obvious than in the other film versions that exist.

I think that they are an interesting pair that has well earned their fanbase.

They definitely "forced them together" just as much as you say the classics did. For goodness sake, the fairy tale is Beauty AND the Beast. The entire POINT is that they have to end up together.

And don't act like the classics' sweet scenes are bad and shallow. Like Sarah Michelle Gellar in the rap song said, Belle had him in the friendzone till he gave her a library. One lady on tumblr pointed out Belle seems more enthralled with her new life with the beast despite the fact that she does exactly the same stuff she did in the villahe only because she now does it in a magic palace with servants. Her romance isn't any deeper than anyone else's.

(No offense to BatB fans. SU/Brandy is just being a hater and a hypocrite. She's been a longtime fan of this fairytale and no other kind of romance is allowed to be seen as equally good.)
