People try to make her this really deep character when she's a very simple and basic fairy-tale character. Just because she thinks about this one dream she has it makes her an expert on dreams or something? What the hell? There are certain dreams that I think about a lot but that doesn't make me an expert. Aurora actually has little to no personality and depth. She's a plot device and nothing more that's just supposed to sing, dance, sleep, and look pretty. People try to make her a lot more than she actually is.

She's the least deep princess, and it doesn't help that people give her a personality that isn't hers.

I've really never seen much overanalysis that over-glorify Aurora :o (unless I may've missed them)
She was never my favorite princess she was underdeveloped and a pretty flat character. But I still found her to be fun and charming (I wish we could've seen more of that).

Yes! People also overanalyze where the classic princesses, Ariel, and Rapunzel take place! It's not supposed to be a specific place!

No, I analyze what I see. I'd say she's at least as deep as Belle and Jasmine (who barely has 2 minutes more screen time than she does, yet no one questions people who analyze her).

I mean, outside of fanpop nobody even knows her name, much less what her personality is like. where do you guys live where people do that? everyone I know overanalyzes Elsa and Mulan, not Aurora.

I agree with AudreyFreak and disagree with KataraLover.
Where someone sees a shallow character, others see a deep, well rounded character. I love this princess because I can interpret her character in this way. She displays more original personality in a short time than other princesses and she is, at least, and original character, not a feminist or stereotypical archetype.

Yes, but honestly I don't mind it. It's true that we don't see a lot of her personality in her movie, but that allows for extrapolation which I think is a lot of fun.

Personally, I don't view her as being all that deep. There are hints here and there and she at least has the sense to invite Philip over to her house so that her fairy aunts can meet him. Other than that, though there's not much there. I think the reason people (especially on Fanpop) like to analyze her is that she has so few lines and remains an enigmatic character. Those who like her want to know more about her and those that are more neutral find her uninteresting. For me there's not much to her because the text doesn't give me much to analyze, heck she's asleep for half of the movie! I view her more as a princess archetype but if someone sees more of a personality then more power to them.

Ridiculously so. And Jasmine has a lot more screentime than Aurora and also shows personality and depth.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Aurora and I find her pleasant and charming to watch but I think people search and search for things that aren't explicitly there. They overcomplicate the character. A key example is her being called "philosophical" just because she sings a song about birds.

And Jasmine and Belle clearly have a lot more of a presence on screen and showcase a lot more personality than Aurora does, so they're not really comparable as there's nothing to really project onto those characters.

Guilty as charged.

I think one of the reasons I do love Aurora so much is because I can project things onto her. We don't see a super large amount of her personality, so things are open for interpretation which I enjoy. ^^Lol at the philosophical comment, I agree that's a bit of a stretch.

Guys, just because she lacks screen-time and we don't know much about her, doesn't mean there is more to her. Just imagining and projecting things onto her isn't a good enough reason to like her. I mean, I love Lola Bunny from Space Jam and she has even less screen-time than Aurora but I don't project things onto her that aren't there. If I had been in charge of creating Lola as a character I would have expended on her by giving her more screen-time and keeping her the way she is but also making her more like Babs Bunny from Tiny Toons. But I digress. Jasmine has a lot more screen-time than Aurora and her personality is more obvious than Aurora's. Even if Jasmine's screen-time isn't very much, she still able to take advantage of showing us her defined personality and identity, which is more than I can say for Aurora. Also, Belle has FAR more screen-time and is definitely a more fleshed out and defined character than Aurora. I'm pretty sure someone is going to say I just think that because Aurora is a passive character and not someone who rebels or whatever. But I also love characters like Victoria from Corpse Bride, Odette from The Swan Princess, and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, who are all very passive female characters that are far from badasses. But I still love them because they do have defined personalities and identities (though Victoria to a lesser extent).

She has very little screen time but there's enough there to inspire love, I do not fall in love with flat characters

Why not go mad with the analyzing? If we can do it with Shakespeare, we can do it with Disney.

Wow, did Elsa's poll seriously get reported?

And fleshed out or not, I don't think Belle is a terribly deep character, and for years I never thought she had much personality till I studied her more.

KL -Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz isn't passive. I dunno if you're basing it off the classic movie, but she's a pretty active character in the general Oz stories. She's the one that goes off in the adventure, often saves Oz from the villains, and rescues her friends more often than they rescue her.

Why do anyone pick yes? She simply just being one of the most ignored princess due of her lack of screentime. Never seen anyone analyze her very deeply lol.
