She makes some decisions that are considered stupid by a lot of people, which they are, I think, but I don't think it makes her stupid. I don't think she's one of the smartest DPs, but I think she actually does show a lot of intelligence within the movie.

I think she's brilliant and resourceful in some areas, severely lacking in others. Archery, fighting, riding, fishing, rock-climbing, and wilderness survival in general? She's brilliant. She even picks up skills she's not even that interested in (public speaking, persuading, peace-keeping, etc) with aplomb. Not to mention how resourceful she can be.

However, her decision to ask a witch to "change [her] mum" without specifying what kind of change she MEANT, blindly giving her mum a potion when she doesn't even know what's in it or what it's supposed to do, act surprised when the spell does something she didn't expect, as well as act shocked that the witch is no longer around after buying everything in her shop, etc. Is also really hard to ignore.

She is smart, it's just that she's very hot-headed (in that she thinks she's right and the others are in the wrong when it comes to opinions) and makes dumb decisions based on impulsive and rash feelings she has at the moment than by thinking for a while and using logic. If she'd cool off more she'd see and think better about the consequences of certain actions.

Besides, she's good at using weapons and riding horses. That requires skills, perseverance and patience, and are other signs of intelligence.

The more i'm thinking of Brave these days the more I wanna watch it again. These discussions on Fanpop make me see the movie in a different light.

I don't think she's NOT smart, so yeah.

She's highly talented and skilled and seems to pick up skills pretty easily (also begrudgingly if they're not her interest). However, I think most of her faults lie not with lack of intelligence but maturity. She's only 16 and acts every bit of the stereotypical teenager. I think once she grows up she will start making wiser decisions, fortunately, she already seems to be on that path.

Well she's not a genius but she is smart for a normal average human I guess.

Not just by street smart, she's also often taught lessons by her mother.

Not as dumb as Anna but still not smart enough.

What Tyger and Scarlet said. She's a very crafty girl who happened to make a mistake in a bout of emotional angst and like most people who do that, it was a very unwise one.
