Why is it that everyone insist to pick out the classic princesses first? Some of the later ones don't have much in common either.

Don't think they have anything in common, Snow is so calm and patient whereas Rapunzel can be crazy and over the top and even when she was staying locked in the tower she needed to run around and jump and climb and she just always needs to do something whereas Snow is being passive for the most of the movie. The only thing they have in common imo is that they are both rather naive and trusted the wrong people, but Rapunzel was like that because she literally didn't know anything about life and suffered from a Stocholm Syndrom brainwashed by her "captor" whom she believed to be her mother, so it's not the same.

^Rapunzel waited 18 years to leave, and only did when some dude helped her. Snow picked herself up and looked for shelter and kept busy in the cottage. Neither of them is really more passive than the other. They're also both very girly, romantic, naive, and developed crushes on older guys that surprised them.

Anyway, why on earth did Pocahontas and Aurora win? They're very similar. They have no reason to dislike each other.

I think that Jasmine is the polar oppossite to Mulan, not Aurora or SW. Jasmine is loud but passive, while Mulan is modest but very productive. I think that Mulan is much more complex character than stereotypical tomboy, than embodiment of masculinity. Unfortunately, she is often considered to be this.
