Hello, guys! In my first artigo of the ano (or last, depending in the time-zone you are), I'll rank the disney Princesses from worst role-model to best role-model (in my opinion). My list was inspired por the countdown dclairmont is doing. No Anna or Elsa in this list.

11. Merida

Merida is very brave, but I don't like she wanted to use magic to bewitch her mother's mind. This is unforgivable to me. No matter how Elinor pushed Merida into being a perfect daughter and princess, Merida should have tried to reason with her first. However, I admire her for apologizing and doing everything in her power to correct her mistakes.

10. Ariel

Ariel and Merida are kind-of tied for me as role-models. I know most of you will disagree with Merida being under Ariel, but I don't find Ariel selfish and immature. She was impulsive, and in her defense, she tried to reason with Triton about the humans. While I admire her for having the courage to pursue her dreams and not being prejudiced about humans (despite conflicts in their cultures), I still think the deal she made with Ursula was too risky.

Snow White's Playlist
I like making playlists on my ipod for all of my favourite characters from all kinds of media. Sometimes the songs don't fit the characters and are just there to capture the symbolism from objects, animais or magic used in the film. I've made a playlist for a few of the Princesses and it's time I shared them with you. I'll add lyrics that I think relates to them the most.

Snow White is up first.

Symbolism: Spring, love, The Prince's castle, apples, birds (especially the blushing dove), gothic

Earth angel por Llewellyn & Juliana

-Snow's sweet child-like but motherly personality towards everyone she meets and how they amor her. Except of course for the pure evil and vain Wicked Queen.

Hey Ironhide, news flash! Princess can be brave too!
I thought I'd spare a moment to describe the braveness of the bravest group of gals I know: the disney Princesses!

This isn't a countdown of the bravest princess, this is merely a list describing what I feel to be the bravest moment of each princess (in what I hope is chronological order).

Snow White

We start with the first! I feel Snow White to be one of the bravest princesses, for many reasons. 1) She put up with being a slave for fourteen years, 2) she didn't completely freak out when the Prince snuck up on her, 3) she pulled herself back together after being chased in the creepiest forest imaginable, 4) she dealt with an attempt on her life, 5) she let herself into some aleatório home, and well, some other stuff I'm sure of but can't remember because it's been a while since I saw the movie.

Cinderella

Once again, slave for the majority of her life. Like Snow, she kept on singing. This chick was so Valente she didn't stop to pity herself for one second, unlike me when I can't get a jar of amendoim manteiga open. Props to Cindy! And as to the haters who point out the minor meltdown she had after the stepsisters ripped her...

DEFENSE OF SNOW WHITE RUNNING INTO (AND IN) THE FOREST

(author's note: Snow White will forever be my favourite princess... I also have thoughts about her apology afterwards but I'll post that later when I actually put it into words and write it)

1. RUNNING INTO THE FOREST

Firstly, Snow White goes from picking wildflowers, humming “One Song” to herself, helping a baby bird… to nearly being killed and realizing that everything that had just happened (=break from being virtually slave) was for that purpose.

Out of self-preservation - and not weakness - she runs into the forest. As of now, she has nothing to defend herself against the queen (not to mention she is all too powerful to face at this time)

Don’t think she would have thought this since she had no time to process anything (and so being panicked and confused is a very valid reaction), but thinking about it, what would running away have done for her? On foot, she couldn’t really get too far. Via the magic mirror, the queen would know where she is. What if the huntsman changes his mind and followed her in? What if the...

My first artigo of 2014 (not really since not every part of the world is in 2014 yet, in some parts of the world it's still 2013, but for me it is)

Chapter 3: The Lazy Girl
It was morning in Jamestown, Virginia and Pocahontas woke up por that her friend Nakoma called her
"Come on, get up", she called
"Give me some mais minutes, I hate mornings", Pocahontas replied

Pocahontas had never liked mornings, it meant running around in the forest or canoeing down the river and Pocahontas had never enjoyed either, she just wanted to relax the entire dia and basically not doing anything, but Nakoma always forced her to get out and see the world outside of her tent and at last Pocahontas followed her

Today they where going to start canoeing down the river, Nakoma wanted to see Pocahontas try canoeing a little bit so she tried to make her do it
"You got me into the canoe, but you can't make me canoa down the river, it's too risky", Pocahontas told her friend

Okay, so honestly, I loved this movie. But here is my review.

1 = How did Elsa get her ice powers? It's never told throughout the entire movie. Surely it wasn't something passed down from her parents, because they didn't have them, and they couldn't even keep Elsa in control.

2 = Admit it. We all knew Hans wasn't going to stay right when Kristoff and Anna started their journey. We all knew he was going to end up being her boyfriend/love interest, and Hans was going to e pushed aside.

3 = Elsa wasn't given a lot of screen time. I mean, wasn't the whole movie circled around trying to get her back and get her to bring summer back? The movie was mais focused on Anna, and Hans and his crew going off to find her. We barley knew anything about Elsa due to the fact that the only time we really got to know anything about her is when a song came on and she was apart of it.

4 = The movie went por a little fast and it was very predictable, just as I said, we all knew Hans was being replaced por Kristoff. Also, when Elsa was stuck in the dungeons, we all knew she was going to be set free, or escape, and that Anna wouldn't be Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante for forever....

Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs

I didn't shred any tears but I felt emotional inside when Snow White was in her coffin in the candlelight of the cottage. I mourned with dwarfs, animais and later The Prince until Snow White awakened from the death-like coma. I just wish after the Prince had kissed her and sat mourning on the ground, disney had waited a beat or two before waking her up. They spoiled the moment por having her stir awake just as quickly. Oh I forgot, another scene that made me feel emotional is when after Snow White has ran into forest and is crying. At that moment I thought "She needs human contact. She needs a hug. I want to give her hug!"

Cinderella: Twist in Time

I remember feeling sorry for cinderela after Tremaine breaks the slipper and leaves for the Palace. When cinderela starts crying and as an audience we realise how miserable and how lonely she really is. I shred a few tears for her.

As we all know, the disney Princesses are all blessed with amazing voices. But of these voices, who do I like best? I thought I'd share with you the answer!

13. Merida

Er, she doesn't sing. Right.

12. Belle

Her voice has its lovely patches, but something about how it titters on the high notes annoys me. Her voice also isn't very distinguishable, which lands it at 12.

11. Cinderella

Ah, I amor Cindy's voice! It's so relaxing, and, and, *snore*. Whoa, sorry! Anyway, cinderela has a dreamy and romantic voice, but there's just not much opportunity for her to show it off in the course of the film. So dreamy, yet so unremarkable.

10. Jasmine

Her voice has one very big problem, it sounds like Rapunzel's. The worst part in that is that jasmim is nothing like Rapunzel! Jasmine's voice should be deeper and stronger. It should be sultry and powerful, just like Jasmine! No matter how beautiful Lea Salonga's pipes are, the fact is that they don't suit the character she's portraying.

I thought instead of bombarding all you guys with my opinion nukes, I'd start out with introducing myself.

I'm 14, and I'm quite paranoid about websites using my personal information to hunt me down, which is why I always use a fake name. But don't worry, the rest of this artigo is true.

My name isn't Giyane, it starts with a K (my 2nd favorito letter after V). My name is Kallysta (or at least, I wish it was). I'm very weird once you get to know me, but hey! We're all mad here, am I right?

Anyway, I've been wanting to be an astrophysicist since before I even knew how to spell it, so that's a pretty long time. I'm a musician (I play clarinete and mais recently, contrabass clarinet), I'm in the debate club at my school, I'm teaching myself to speak Mandarin, and I was composição literária a book that I put on hold because it was starting to depress me. In real life, I can be somewhat of a compulsive liar.

I'm currently addicted to the show futurama and the Pearl series, which is where I got my username. I think I'll create seperate clubes for pixie cuts and Merida's hair, two of my great loves. And estrela Wars. I really amor estrela Wars.

The first thing you should know before proceeding is my level of what doctors call awkward disease.

I also have lack-of-proper-humor-itosis. Ha. Ha. Ha ha ha haha.

Ha.

So now that most of you have run away in sheer terror, I'm Meredith. I sometimes pretend my name is Merida, but alas, I am stuck with my actual name.

I'm also a disney Princess fã to state the obvious, and I'm 13. I like televisão and books. And food.

But Disney, man.

So um, yes. I'm new to this shindig (???) but I hope you at least pretend to not hate me.

"Many people say Ariel is selfish, but I disgress. To me, someone selfish is someone who is self-centered and put their own interests above others, not mattering if may hurt someone or not. Ariel is not selfish, she is impulsive doesn't think before she acts, meaning that (unlike someone selfish) she doesn't realize her actions are going to hurt her father and sisters.

When she made the deal with Ursula, she was terribly sad with her father - and with reasons! So her mind was fogged and she probably thought, like a normal teenager, Triton hated her and/or didn't care about her. People also point out her missing the show, concerto as being selfish. But she had genuinely forgot about it. We all forget compromises sometimes, and maybe she didn't show to the recitals because she doesn't like the idea of cantar to a big public.

Like I stated before, Ariel is just being a teenager. Many teens are immature and reckless, though to me she isn't immature. I know most of the princesses are mature for their ages, but Ariel is just being bluntly realistic. In the Renaissance, where disney was specifically trying to give...

Right now I'm doing a countdown for which disney Princess is the best role model, and I've seen some people not think they're the best role models, and since personally I see them as the three best role models, I'd like to explain why I think so. Also, I wanted to right an artigo that was a bit mais thought provoking other than another countdown and I was bored. I'll go through why each princess is a good role model individually, and at the end conclude what they all have in common, so let's get started! (I literally say "let's get started" or "without further ado" for every single one of my articles..)

Snow White

All in all, Snow White is an amazing role model! Many people are hung up on the fact that she took that maçã, apple from the Queen, but for one, that was one instance. She shouldn't just be defined por one mistake. Also, the magic well worked, so why shouldn't the magic apple? The main reason Snow is such an amazing role model is her optimism and hopefulness. Nowadays, it's so easy for people to get discouraged over the smallest things, but Snow really doesn't let anything get in her way. Even after knowing that her Step Mom, the only...

An interview of Frozen
So, after seeing Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante with two of my cousins and one of my little sisters, I decided to interview them on what they thought of the movie. I hope you enjoy, but if you really hate swearing you might want to be careful because they swear a lot. Anyway, here's a bit about the people I'm interviewing:

•Nora: Is my cousin, who is a ano older than me. Her favorito disney movie is aladdin and her favorito princess is Tiana.

•Elene: Is my little sister, who is a ano younger than me. Her favorito disney movie and princess is Pocahontas.

•Jakob: Is my cousin, who is also about a ano younger than me. His favorito disney movie is Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante and he doesn't really like disney Princesses but his favorito is Mulan.

Anyway, those are my interviewees, now it's time for the interview!

1: Who is your favorito character in Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante and why?

Nora: Either Olaf or Kristoff. Because Olaf's funny and cuddly and cute and Kristoff's hot! …And nice.

[i]- The filmes are definitely better than the ones from that Chicken-Little era. And they are making money in the theaters after a long period of box-office failure, just like with the Renaissance.

- I guess so. Revival is a good term for it I think.

- I personally believe it started after Bolt because every film that just came out has been amazing. They all have the disney Feeling or the Walt disney Feel to it. The Princess and the Frog was amazing but lame reasons didn't make a lot of money. enrolados really pulled it through and was also great. Wreak it Ralph and Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante were also great. But sadly I feel like people are making this era based off of the money and not about how great the film.

- Revival Era! It started from PATF and still continuing! You know like Oscar nominations, box office hits, musical, classic, and famous! Yipee! disney really is stepping it up!

- We are in a CGI renaissance

- Definitely. Personally, I amor PatF. Amazing characters, beautiful animation, and what not, but I still don't think it started the renaissance. It's nice, but it didn't seem groundbreaking. enrolados on the other hand...

Chapter 5: Inside Her Head

"My daughter. What do I hear in there? Is that Nakoma?" Chief Powhatan asks. "I thought you two weren't on speaking terms ever since, well, John Smith....you actually haven't been on speaking terms with anyone since John left, not even me." Chief Powhatan hasn't slept for nights, so worried about his daughter, but she still wouldn't tell him anything.

"Yes father, Nakoma and I have reconciled and she and I are inside talking right now," Pocahontas says, lying through her teeth. "Now if you'll please excuse us."

Chief Powhatan hesitates at the door. He knows something is wrong, but he doesn't know the words to say. Ever since John left and the Indians and settlers started war, she hasn't been the same. "I amor you my daughter," is all he says before leaving her.

Pocahontas relaxes. Of course Nakoma wasn't actually in here. The noise he heard were the screams of Ariel, Belle, Snow White, and Rapunzel. "Ariel and Belle, you had one job! It was to dig Aurora out of the ground and bring her to me! You know I handpicked you two out of the princesses because you two seemed to be the...

Yes, I’m back with another public poll. This time: the Kindest disney Princess. This list is a combination of votes, comments, and my own opinion (as I didn’t really get enough votes for a clear ranking).

13. Merida
I’m usually the person defending Merida, honestly I am. I HATE it when people call her spoiled and an unworthy disney princess. However, while she is not a brat, she’s not exactly the kindest girl ever. She’s harsh about her suitors, she says some unforgivable things to her mum and she often does things that could be described as selfish. No matter how much I amor her, Merida is the least kind disney princess.

12. Ariel
Ariel is not mean, but she doesn’t do many things that could be described as kind. Like Merida, some people see some of her actions as selfish (although I have to disagree). This is why she scores quite lowly on the countdown. However, in her sequel I do feel she is a very kind and caring mother.

11. Elsa

Chapter 2: The Cook That Always Makes Delicious Food
Anika woke up one lovely morning and went down to eat breakfast and read today's newspaper, she saw that she was mentioned in one of the articles, this is what it stood on that article:
The Cook That Always Makes Delicious Food
There's no one in her hometown that doesn't know who she is, Anika is easily the best and most well known cook at the moment, everyone loves her comida and she even makes professional meals look flawless and tasteful. She always tries new meals, there's very few meals that she doesn't like. She doesn't want to tell what the secret behind the delicious comida is, all she says is that she doesn't use a recipe book, but makes the recipes por herself and not until the comida is perfect does she let her friends and family try the food
"Oh, I didn't knew I was this popular", she said to her parents rather chocked
"You've been serving comida to many mais people than what you think, not just friends and family, but also to strangers", her mother replied

Let's face it: we live in a man's world. If you don't think that's true, slap yourself and take a look at the real world. Under Iranian Islamic law, if a woman isn't a virgin when she's married, she gets 100 lashes. Harsh. Men are even paid mais than women on average, and that's in the United States.

Now, I am a feminist. Before anyone throws something at me, I want to say that people are misconstruing feminism, and it's making me sick. Feminism isn't about burning bras or hating men, it's about equality. It's about a world where no gender is oppressed. And disney can have a big part in that.

How? Think about it. What do most little girls want to be when they grow up? A princess. And where do they learn that? Disney. Now, of course that little girl will have her dreams crushed, but the time she spent waiting for Prince Charming could have been used doing something useful. Take it from Tiana, "Fairytales can come true, you gotta make 'em happen, it all depends on you." What world will we be in if half the population, scratch that, ALL of the population, views women as dames to be rescued?

Hello everybody. I'm new here, and por new I mean I just created an account roughly 1.2 minutos ago. Now, since I have no idea how to write fanfictions and I can't draw to save my mother's life, I decided to write. Which I enjoy. and I'm also feeling strongly opinionated on the subject of disney princesses, so what the heck? I'm going to shut up now and get on with it-

13. Aurora

There's a lot a girl can do with 18 minutos when she's the main character. And when she has three fairie mammas watching over her. Honestly, Aurora, there's no excuse for being boring.

12. Ariel

I used to amor Ariel. When I was eight. Now that I'm grown up (physically at least) I realize that Ariel has her lovable quirks, which are unfortunately smothered por her selfishness and, how do I say this, dim wittidness. Phew, that was a long sentence.

11. Belle

Ah, Belle. You read. It's a sad dia when that fact alone makes you the queen superb over the rest of the princesses. Haha, not anymore. Belle, when someone who imprisoned you and nearly gave your aged/ moderately senile father a coração attack tells you not to go someplace,...

You'll notice that characters created around the same time as each other tend to share traits that are popular at the time or big with the artist/director/etc who works with them.

However, I'm not here to talk about personalities. Those have already been covered por many interesting authors who explore the topics far mais effectively than I could. What I want to talk about is common overarching themes I have noticed in each generation of princesses.

Classic Princesses

A common theme with the first three disney princesses (Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora) I think is maintaining hope and optimism in the face of adversity and misfortune. Someone on this site mentioned that one thing they all have in common is they face a terrible circumstances imposed por evil female figures (the Queen, Lady Tremaine and Maleficent) but stay optimistic despite it and make the best of a bad situation. I think it's worth exploring.

Snow White finds herself in a horrible situation when she discovers that her stepmother, the Queen, wants her dead, and the only reason she's alive is because of the good will of others. (The Huntsman sparing...

A common complaint against Ariel is how she changes herself or gives up her fins, family and world for a guy. This doesn't bother me too much since the film establishes that she desperately wanted legs and life on land even before she saw Eric. Just listen to "Part of That World."

That's not the focus of this artigo though. Another common criticism is how losing her voice and trying to woo Eric anyway sends a message to young girls that you don't need to have opinions or a personality to get a man. That all you need is a pretty face.

I have two rebuttals for this argument.

First, one does not need a voice to express opinions or a personality. Talking is nice, but not required to communicate. In fact, there are three basic forms of communication: verbal, visual, and written. Verbal is most common since most people use it most often, but there is also visual (signs, gestures, facial expressions, and body language) and written (drawing, writing, etc). Ariel loses the ability to verbally communicate when she loses her voice, and likely does not have time to pick up on written communication since she has only three days to woo Eric...

Chapter 2: The Damsel In Distress
It was afternoon in a lovely Chinese palace where mulan lived with her parents, her parents dreamed of seeing mulan performing some material arts though they did amor their daughter very much despite that and mulan had always promised them that one dia she would show them what she could do. But the problem was that she was scared of killing or even hurt other people no matter how evil they where, if they where trying to attack her she would just try to hide and act like a damsel in distress.

But at the same time she loved her parents so much that she had never done a selfish act in her whole life, today she would do another one, do some material arts for her parents just so they could see if she did it well or not

mulan was nervous for this since she had failed at it the anterior times she had tried and therefore she didn't have a lot of self confidence this day, but she was going to do it to make her parents happy
