All the brilliant “Getting to Know Me” artigos that have been posted recently made me realize I’ve been here for 6 years and have never done one, so I thought it was long overdue. I've been trying to make collages to add, but my computer's atuação up so I'll have to go back and add them later. I hope this artigo doesn’t seem unoriginal or disorganized, and I’m sorry if I come across as pretentious or whiny.

Basic Info

Name: Rhianan (It’s actually my middle name, but I hate my first name and have a strict rule about not using it online)

Gender: Female

Country: USA (specifically the South)

Astrological sign: Sagittarius

Ethnicity: German and Scandinavian on my father’s side; English, Irish, and Native American on my mother’s

Physical appearance: I’m 5’7 and plus-sized. I have medium-length very light blonde hair and blue eyes (If you want a disney comparison, think Fairy Mary’s body, Cinderella’s eyes, Belle’s hair length, and Elsa’s hair color)

Behind the Screen name: I was a huge fã of Criminal Minds when I joined fanpop (I still watch it, but I’m not obsessed anymore). The show’s 100th episode, which was the end of a story arc involving my then-favorite character Aaron Hotchner and his ex-wife Haley, aired soon after I joined and was being heavily promoted and speculated at the time. I knew whatever happened in that episode, Aaron would still amor Haley forever, so AaronHaley4ever became my screen name. I really dislike my screen name now because my opinion of one of the characters who inspired it changed dramatically, so it sends the wrong message. I only still have it because I don’t want to start over with earning friends and medals.

My personality: At my best, I’m kind, open-minded, generous, creative, determined, and optimistic. At my worst, I’m naïve, prideful, stubborn, odd, and/or moody. I’m very much a problem-solver and enjoy challenges and figuring things out on my own. I’m also very shy and only speak my mind if it’s about something that really matters to me or won’t cause controversy, which some people mistake for indifference or snobbishness. I’m a huge perfectionist and care a lot what others think of me (a trait I’m not proud of), so I go out of my way to avoid ridicule/disapproval.

The things I value most are:

Individuality- I’ve been bullied in some form for most of my life, so I know how it feels to be afraid/ ashamed to be yourself. I believe all people should have the right to be who they are and that it’s absolutely wrong to expect others to change/hide themselves to fit the “norm”.

Optimism – I know firsthand how a negative attitude can affect you and the people around you, so I don’t want to be that one person who’s always bringing everyone else down. I try to see the good in all people and situations, and I have little patience for defeatism, self-pity, or complaining (sorry if that sounds callous).

Kindness- This I strive for above all else! I believe that no person (real or fictional) is all good or all evil and that it’s possible to dislike a person’s actions or choices without disliking the person themselves. I feel we all have reasons why we are who we are, and I believe in understanding others’ thoughts/motivations/histories instead of judging them for it. I know how hurtful and humiliating it is to be judged, and I never want to make another person feel that way. I’m a firm believer that two wrongs don’t make a right, so I don’t hold grudges, wish or cause pain (physical or emotional) to others, or take satisfaction in others’ misfortune, not matter what they’ve done in the past or how they treat me in return.

My Life

I have a rare condition called cerebral angiomatosis, or angiomatosis of the brain. I couldn’t find an artigo explaining my exact condition, but here’s one about angiomatosis in general (sorry if it confuses anyone!): link. I don’t like to talk about my condition because people usually think I’m lying or that it means something it doesn’t. Also, I don’t let it define me, so I don’t want it to define others’ perceptions of me. I want people to see me for the person I am, not a condition I have.

What angiomatosis means: I have potentially deadly seizures; I experience weight gain as a side effect of the medicine to control said seizures; I have no peripheral vision (I have to turn my head to see anything to the side of me instead of moving my eyes); I have chronic migraines that are triggered por heat and bright light; I have problems with balance and coordination; a fall or blow to the head could cause bleeding in my brain and kill me.

What angiomatosis does not mean: I’m mentally challenged; I have a psychological problem; I have cancer; I’m too dumb/fragile/irresponsible to take care of myself.

Because of my condition, my parents were very overprotective of me and didn’t let me be around other kids because they were afraid they’d play too rough and kill me accidentally. Since I’m an only child, that meant spending most of my childhood isolated. When I got to school, I had a really hard time fitting in and was bullied for everything imaginable. While some teachers were understanding, most of them just told me I was “too weird for [my] own good” and needed to be “more typical” so it wouldn’t be a problem. Whenever I tried to stand up for myself, there was always some form of retaliation, and if the bullies made me cry, the teacher punished me for being “too emotional”. It was so traumatic that to this day, I try to avoid showing emotion or putting myself in a situation where I might become emotional.

I lived with my parents until they died and now live on my own. I don’t get out much because my lack of peripheral vision makes it hard (and dangerous) to drive a car, and there aren’t any reliable mass transit systems where I live so going somewhere means paying for a cab or asking for a ride (which I hate to do). My migraines kept me from finishing college or holding down a normal job, so I’m currently on disability, which I absolutely hate because people usually call me a lazy bum or tell me I’m stealing money from the taxpayers when they learn about it. I can’t stand depending on others for survival, so I’m trying to find a way to turn my talents into income. I’m currently working on a novel and trying to establish myself as a freelance writer.
*I’m so sorry if talking about my life makes me sound like I’m complaining/feeling sorry for myself; I don’t mean to! I’m thankful for the things I have, and I only brought it up to give people a better understanding  *

My family: My parents were very similar to the King and queen of Arendelle. My dad was strong, a natural leader, and expected a lot of me; my mom was quiet, submissive, and rarely challenged her husband. Like King Angarr and queen Iduna, my parents made the misguided choice to isolate their daughter and died relatively young, not to mention the fact that my parents looked uncannily like them (the only difference is the eye colors). For this reason, King Agnarr and queen Iduna will always hold a special place in my heart, so I sometimes get a bit defensive of them.

I don’t get to spend much time with my dad’s side of the family because they live far away, though they’re usually supportive and let me make my own decisions, while my mom’s side has always been nearby, though they don’t really understand my condition. They often criticize and micromanage me, which makes me feel like they don’t trust me to handle anything myself. I have a lot of cousins on both sides, of whom I’m the only one who’s never had a spouse, college degree, or “real job”, so I don’t feel like I measure up when compared to them.

Pets: I’ve always loved animais and have had a lot of pets over the years. I currently have a Persian cat named Remus, a white rabbit named Marshmallow, a guinea pig named Anna (so named because she’s feisty and talkative like Princess Anna, and the first thing she did when I brought her início was snuggle up to one of my Hans dolls), and a bloodhound named Clampett that I inherited from my mom.

My style/fashion sense: It may seem vain to include this, but it’s a big part of who I am. Some people think big girls don’t care how they look, but that isn’t true for me. I amor experimenting with fashion, and I never step outside the door unless my hair/make-up/clothes are perfect! I like to think if my style as eye-catching but not gaudy – mostly dresses or tops and skirts in neutral/dark as cores that are easy to mix and match, paired with colorful handbags and dramatic jewelry to make it stand out. Most of my wardrobe is stuff I designed and sewed myself or bought and altered/embellished. I sort of had to learn to make my own fashion because the only clothes I could find on the racks were never my style (either too plain or too gaudy). My designs are mostly inspired por my fandoms, and it makes me proud when I wear them and get compliments.

Hobbies/Interests: One of the only places I was allowed to go as a child was the library, so I developed a amor of leitura from a young age. I enjoy writing, drawing, cantar (though I stink at it and would be too shy to perform), sewing, jewelry/fashion design, collecting dolls/entertainment memorabilia, researching pop culture trivia, learning foreign languages, doll/action figure customization, and traveling (though I don’t get to do it often). I amor Broadway musicals! The shows I’ve seen live are The Secret Garden, The Addams Family, Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Pet Peeve: STEREOTYPES!!! People think I’m unsophisticated/intolerant because I’m Southern, insecure/a slob/always eating or thinking about comida because I’m big, cold/snobbish/uninterested because I’m shy, vain/shallow/unintelligent because I have a lot of interests that are considered “girly” etc., and it makes me angry! I’d much rather people ask me if there’s something about me that they don’t understand instead of jumping to (often wrong) conclusions.

Other Cultures (sorry if these are dumb reasons to be interested):

British- I’m probably dating myself por saying this, but I idolized Princess Diana growing up, and I’ve been a Harry Potter fã for most of my life. These things helped me develop an interest in British culture at an early age. I amor the música of the 60s British invasion and sometimes use British words in conversation (which usually causes people to look at me like I’m nuts). It’s been my dream to visit the UK since I was 8!

French- A lot of my favorito books were written por French authors, and I always wanted to visit France and see all the places I’ve read about firsthand. I amor French food, and the language is very beautiful (though I don’t speak it well…yet)

Danish- The novel I’m working on takes place in 19th century Denmark, so I had to do a lot of research on Danish history and culture to insure its accuracy. I found it all fascinating!

Belle- book lovers, compassionate, see the best in others, protective of those we care about, considered odd por others

cinderela – kind and forgiving to all, hopeful, lost our parents at a young age, don’t often speak our minds/stand up for ourselves

aladdin – adaptable, economic struggles, strive to better our circumstances
