The clear and outright majority of the "Vampire Diaries" fãs is for Damon and Elena as endgame; almost everybody wants them to be a couple and understands the story in that way. Damon is por far the most loved character and Delena are the couple with the most shippers por far. It is the same everywhere: fãs of the books, fãs of the TV show, fã groups, internet sides, votings, polls, comments, clicks, every other numbers, in different countries etc., and close to everybody loves Damon himself and Delena as their favourite couple. And even everybody in the story notices sooner or later that Damon and Elena amor each other – in the books and in the show, including Stefan, Elena’s friends, … and even people they just met see that right away.
Some say that Elena can’t be with Damon because he is a bad boy, but character is never important in love. And anyway, Elena has a very dark trait herself in the books and she and Damon are very much alike, and Stefan has his dark sides and dark times in the show (ripper). Damon is not a totally mean person, he is the classical bad boy type that we know from movie, TV and literature and that many females always were drawn to. Damon has a good coração and is even vulnerable in his amor for Elena. He had many disappointments in love, and it started in the books with the death of his mother whom he loved very deeply, and he never experienced a real relationship with true amor so far. Damon is put down in amor again and again, and it is very painful to watch him being hurt each single time. Delena fãs are put down with him over and over, and it is really painful to be treated like that so many times. Damon so often steps back for others, he shows an enormous selflessness in doing so and he always puts Elena above everything and everybody else. He makes decisions that save her life and is even willing to let her hate him as long as she survives. That causes him and us fãs great pain, we suffer deeply with him and it increases his vulnerability.
Damon is of course gorgeous, hot, quick-witted and so many other things, he is a bad boy and has very much charm. He knows how to look and act and what to say and do to make the impression that he wants to and to get his way. So many are drawn to him because of how and who he is, and nobody wonders about his big popularity (I myself always had a thing for bad boys, and Damon has everything that I always were attracted to in absolute perfection). But we don’t only want Damon and Elena to be together because we amor Damon that much, we also understand that Delena and their mutual amor are something really special.
I personally are often called "emotionless" or "unfeeling". I usually like everything from horror with much blood to action with many explosions – just not so called "Women Movies". But I fell right away for Damon himself and for the Delena amor story. I feel passion for their story and am moved and even overwhelmed por their obvious amor for each other. It is a real story about amor (not that cheesy thing of most others) and how it really is, and the amor between Damon and Elena is at the same time something very special, and we FEEL so much while leitura about or watching them together.
Many people say that Lisa Jane Smith was fired from composição literária the rest of the "Vampire Diaries"-books because she wanted to end them with Damon and Elena being together. Not much is said officially so that it is hard to tell what is true, but looking at her webside, interviews and other official or at least often said things, you get the impression that it is true. I haven’t found anything where l J Smith mentioned her decision for endgame directly (what gives us hope that she still tries to find a way to give her end to us) [if you know where she said she chose Delena, please tell me], but it is hidden in almost everything she says and writes.

You can sense that Delena are precious to LJS and she mostly speaks about Damon, Elena and most of all about Delena, often about Bamon and very seldom about Stelena.
LJS uses expressions like "What I feel in my heart", "I was carried away por my heart" etc. when talking about the Damon and Elena amor story.

"Shadow Souls" is her favourite book (the one in which Stefan most of the time isn’t around and which is mostly about Damon and Elena).
LJS has a younger sister and knows much about being the older sibling what you can see in the stories about her private life and in her books [I have a younger sister myself]. Damon and Elena are the older siblings and LJS seems to prefer the older ones.
LJS has a thing for blonds [Elena] and for bad boys [Damon].
LJS is blond herself and shares some other characteristics with Elena (it is not unusual for an author to create characters like him- or herself). So, Damon shows up as Elena summons her future husband [Awakening, 11], and Damon and Elena – who both like to manipulate others – can’t influence each other much [Nightfall, 23+26 and Midnight, 38]. I personally don’t like the stories in the TV show, but I like the actors very much, and I have known almost all of them before TVD and already liked them then; and Ian Somerhalder’s ability with facial expression is mais than brilliant (no mortal can live up to Damon’s perfection, but Ian Somerhalder is the right choice to get close to it). But the stories are always the same, there is no variation: a group of vampires, a group of werewolves, a group of ghosts, a group of hybrids, a group of original vampires, … (the group of vampiros coming back as a group of ghosts is no real variation), and then something is needed to fight them (device making a high frequency sound, moonstone, necklace, white oak wood, …). If there will be a group of demons and a group of zombies, they won’t have any variation of their only storyline behind the amor stories anymore. But I – like many others – only watch because of Damon and the development of the Delena amor story anyway. The show-runners overdo it a little bit with Damon skrewing things up, Elena not being able to admit her real feelings and Damon stepping aside again and again, but I still like the slow uniting of Damon and Elena, and although much that is written in the books isn’t SAID in the show, we can FEEL it in everything about Delena.
It is usually said that mais than 80% of the TVD fãs are Delena shippers. I don’t know where this number exactly comes from, but it is mentioned over and over, on different websides, in different countries, everybody says so, and it is never denied. And you get the impression that our unarguably overwhelming majority is somewhere at that level, if you look at votings, pesquisas etc., and you always get that impression and feel that this number could be right when you look through the internet.
The votings, pesquisas etc. show that Delena are por far the most loved couple of TVD and one of the most or also the most loved couple with other filmes and TV shows included. They won or were at least nominated for many awards (and then only Damon and Delena were there or they get mais votes than the others) including categories like "Best Couple", "Best Kiss" etc. and "Best Love"-categories and "Most Romantic"-categories. The show-runners also know that and use Damon and Delena for advertising, previews, official appearances etc., and often Joseph morgan is sent with Ian Somerhalder when mais males are needed, because everybody knows who and what the fãs like most.
We notice Damon’s and Elena’s amor for each other on the TV show in every word, in every action, in every gesture, in every touch, in every look etc., and it becomes even stronger with the created atmosphere, the songs in the background and so on. And there are of course always the hints that are given and that we all know so well: Damon says to Elena that it is right – just not at that moment. Elena tells Damon that amor changes people, and Stefan says to Elena, after she started to become closer with Damon, that she changed. Elena says that Damon is under her skin and that she can’t shake him, and Matt replies that you can never shake it when you are really in love. Elena says that it consumes her when she is with Damon, and Damon told her at their first meeting that she wants a amor that consumes her – and passion, adventure and a little bit danger also sound like a relationship with Damon. Elena mentions several times that she feels seguro with Stefan, but Damon is actually the one who makes the decisions that save Elena’s life. Damon makes sure that Elena survives, and everything really bad and life-threatening usually happens when Damon is NOT with Elena. And all of the described aspects are what most people want in love. And there is also what Rose said about both relationships, what in my opinion leads to Delena because Elena like most others wants deep inside an overwhelming and true amor with all its good and bad sides (and Damon can’t really be the worst for her), and Rose also sees it herself as a sign for Delena (and challenge, surprise, questioning life and beliefs and best or worst also sound like real love).
So, Stefan could be the seguro choice. A fã wrote that he or she read all of the books and could never understand why Elena loves Stefan. I agree, because although I believe her that she loves him in a way, I never UNDERSTOOD it and I definitely never SAW it, they just DECIDED to amor each other, while the amor between Damon and Elena can be SEEN and FELT in everything although they both fight it all of the time. Elena feels seguro with Stefan in the show (why? ripper!), she chooses him because she (thinks that she) met him first (what is wrong), -but what kind of argument is that in love?-, and she likes that Stefan wouldn’t die without being killed (that is also true for Damon), but that is only something psychologically after her parents’ death. Elena and Stefan mostly behave like relatives or friends, and there can never be FELT anything (there is no passion or fire). Stefan may be Elena’s first love, but he definitely is NOT her true love. It is said in the books: "Yes. That was Stefan. Her love, but not her lover, willing to amor her chastely from now until the end of her days …" [Midnight, 42], while Elena claims to amor Damon and Stefan to the same extend, "drop for drop, grain for grain" [Midnight, 41], how she puts it. So, the amor is at the same level, but she has every aspect of love, affection, attraction, passion, desire etc. with Damon, her "beloved", how she calls him several times.
I personally would normally think this "willing to amor her chastely from now until the end of her days …" romantic, although not very realistic, but absolutely NOT, if one has everything with somebody else; that ruins the whole romanticism. I would always choose amor over lust, but that is NOT the pergunta here. This is the decision between only amor or amor and passion and so many other things at the same time. And every aspect of it is mentioned in the books, Damon and Elena have really everything together; and now that a big group of Delena fãs threatened to stop watching the TV show, the show-runners admitted that Elena loves Damon and is in amor with him (but why didn’t they say it before, and why can’t Elena say it on the show [it is the only real obstacle between Damon and Elena]?). It is also somehow a decision between mind and heart, because Elena TELLS herself (often panicly) and WANTS TO THINK that it is Stefan for her, while she FEELS that it is Damon for her what her BODY and her coração tell her again and again.
What Damon and Elena have is real love. You usually don’t end up with whom you think that you will, amor surprises you; and it is not unusual that pain, danger, insecurity etc. are involved. Most people (at least inside) want to be consumed por love, overwhelmed por it and filled up with it. They want to lose all control, be knocked out and be engaged por love, and they want to not be able to shake it off. And Elena also fits into that category. That Damon and Elena are united that slowly makes their amor even mais special, and almost all of the fãs FEEL the amor between these two (we can’t sit still, go "aaawwwwwww", react physically in many different ways, scream with joy or other things like that during affectionate Delena scenes). But Elena is on the show afraid of that kind of amor and of losing control, because she never experienced anything like it before; she just turned 18 and is still very young and unexperienced. Damon and Elena have both trouble with feelings, she with understanding true amor and he with dealing with emotions, and they are alike in this inability.
But Damon and Elena have everything together: love, being in love, friendship, affection, sympathy, protection, forgiveness, chemistry, attraction, passion, yearning, longing, desire, caring, electricity, ardor, excitement, welcomeness, sweetness, ecstasy, happiness, fun, predetermination, feeling right, compassion, fire, trust, understanding, seeing through each other, knowing each other, feeling for each other, belonging together, meaning much, being in each other’s heart, being drawn together and so much more. They also have a history of hate, betrayal, jealousy etc., but that is real love.
I personally don’t like episodes without any Delena much, although it is okay to have one from time to time, as long as there is something typical Damon in it; but I don’t like long Delena-free phases. So, how will things continue after season III? They say that there will always be the amor triângulo on the show, sometimes mais and sometimes less, but there will probably be less Delena now, when they concentrate on Elena’s new existence and with a Stelena relationship "for a while". We can hope for the times when Elena remembers what Damon compelled her to forget and perhaps some other things (Jeremy telling Elena about what Rose said??? Damon and Elena being reminded of their tender moments [when he leaves a chuveiro or when they stand on her porch or something like that, perhaps something being said]??? Are there surveillance cameras outside on motels?), but there can’t be much. In seasons I and II, we knew that there was mais to come, but now, it is really hard to go back to less after having mais than before. Even if Delena are really endgame and the show-runners decide to give the Stelena fãs almost the whole show and the Delena fãs the end, I don’t think that I would like to watch ten seasons or whatever Stelena only to get our well-deserved Delena end. But as soon as Elena understands her true feelings, admits to them and decides to be with Damon, there will be no way back for her. That is the reason why the show has to take its time before Damon and Elena can be together. They could show how things work out for them together, concentrate on a background story and show how Stefan deals with the new situation (hopefully por being with Katherine), but the amor story would be finally over for good. Damon and Elena could skrew up their relationship again for a short while, but Elena can’t go back to her seguro zone after experiencing true love, and Delena would work out their problems again soon, because they know that they really amor each other and can’t be without the other.
Now that Elena is a vampire, she doesn’t have to fear danger that much anymore and she will be mais open to passion, what makes her amor for Damon easier to handle for her. And most importantly, she will remember what Damon compelled her to forget, for example their first meeting (that she met him first AND how attracted to him she was right from the start AND what he said about what she wants in love) and – what we all waited for for so long – when Damon told Elena that he loved her and made her forget about it again with tears rolling down his cheeks; and perhaps, there is something else that even the viewers don’t know about yet. But although vampiros can see things mais clearly, are mais affected por their emotions etc., they DON’T have different feelings than when they were still human. Elena can change her mind when she has all of the information involved and knows everything that we viewers already know about, but she shouldn’t have different opinions with different forms of being. Elena has to choose Damon because she finally knows about everything and because she got in touch with her true inner feelings and not because she is a vampire. Perhaps, they find a way to turn her back into a human, and Damon would be willing to give her up because he knows that she will be happier as a mortal; and although everybody expects her to go back to Stefan as a human, she still – with the knowledge about all of the events AND about her true feelings inside – sticks with Damon who is her true love. Even with her staying a vampire, she should at least SAY that now that she knows everything, she changes her mind and chooses Damon, but that her decision would be the same as a vampire, a human and everything else, because it is a decision of the coração and not of a form of being.
The Stelena fãs can’t really be happy, although they usually get the decisions they wanted, but it is clear to everybody that those are "tainted" decisions. There are always the hints that lead to Delena, while Stelena has never any real depth or fire. Elena has still some unfinished business with Stefan, and their relationship has to come to a "natural" end. So, Elena had to choose Stefan for now to find out how things will work out, so that nobody can say that Damon and Elena only got together because Stefan left to save Damon, because Stefan became bad or something like that. Elena only sticks to Stefan out of guilt, loyalty and fear, because she feels seguro with him (really?) and because she fears her deep and true amor for Damon, a amor that she never experienced before.
We Delena fãs always get so close to what we want without ever really reaching it (what is even made worse por misleading previews and false promises). And all of the beautiful Damon and Elena scenes that we get are destroyed again right away. We never get anything for a period of time, because everything is taken from us directly after it was given to us. We never get anything solid, something that we could keep, there is nothing left of what we once got, and Elena never says anything about having something for Damon most or does anything mais with Damon than with everybody else. There are usually pauses with less Delena before and after the special Damon and Elena moments, and all of that makes it even mais painful for us members of the Delena squad.
A few words about the Bamon fans: Damon and Bonnie have a kind of father-daughter-relation without ANY passion in the books, but the TV show Bonnie is a "cross-section" of all of Elena’s friends in the books and is mais like the book-Meredith than the book-Bonnie. She is a vampire-skeptic and one of the few who are immune to Damon’s charm, and Damon would need a weak, sensitive, needy bird like the Bonnie in the books to protect, but even that would have nothing to do with REAL love.
But Katherine and Stefan are a great couple. They have that sweet amor story in the early books, are so much alike and see the world in the same way, while Katherine tells Stefan in the TV show over and over that he really loved her and that she didn’t influence him to do so. And in the books and in the show, Katherine always loves Stefan most, and they fit together perfectly.
So, we Delena fãs hope that there is a reason why Katherine keeps on telling Stefan that he really loved her, like we hope that we will get our well-deserved Delena end, because nobody can deny that there is a meaning in everything said and done on the show that leads to Damon and Elena as endgame. We hope that the show-runners only want to increase the popularity of Delena with giving us hope before destroying those hopes again and again, increasing our desperation, mostly talking about Stelena etc. (perhaps even the Ian Somerhalder/Nina Dobrev-relationship). But we fear that the show-runners only give us the Damon-and-Elena-moments just in time before we would give up (together with misleading previews etc.) to keep us watching and that we will never get anything real.
We have the overwhelming majority, but we never got anything solid so far, and our hopes are destroyed all of the time. That increases our pain and our desperation, but it also causes mais and mais fãs to cadastrar-se the Delena fanbase. Even lots of neutral fãs say por now that they have enough of this "will they/ won’t they"-thing and hope for a Damon-and-Elena-relationship, because everybody feels sorry for Damon, the neutrals want to see all sides of the amor story and we Delena fãs deserve a Delena-relationship after what we went through and after already waiting for so long. And even outside of the TVD world, Damon and Elena got the reputation of the couple that is not allowed to be together and of forbidden love, so that many feel with us Delena fãs and also hope for Damon and Elena as endgame even when they don’t read the books or watch the TV show.

All of this are perfect examples for destroyed hopes, because we are always so close and never get what we already thought of as "a sure thing", and all of that makes it even mais painful for us. We never got anything solid so far, although everybody KNOWS that everything leads to Delena and that close to everybody wants them to be endgame. Not much is said officially so that it is hard to tell what is true, but looking at her webside, interviews and other official or at least often said things, you get the impression that it is true. I haven’t found anything where l J Smith mentioned her decision for endgame directly (what gives us hope that she still tries to find a way to give her end to us) [if you know where she said she chose Delena, please tell me], but it is hidden in almost everything she says and writes.
Her "Vampire Diaries"-books lead to Damon and Elena as a couple in the end.

Damon and Elena are mostly dealt with (frequency, intensity, depth, …) and the fãs can harmonize with them most easily.
LJS was positively surprised por the extend of the popularity of Delena.
There was never any other reason given why she was fired (although her books are bestsellers).
In her official statement, LJS said that the new books could still be for Stelena and Bamon fãs and that she feels with the Delena fans.
In an interview, LJS said about "The Return"-books: "And it’s really the story, whatever my publishers may think and whatever other people may not want, it’s the story of Elena falling in amor with Damon."
You can sense that Delena are precious to LJS and she mostly speaks about Damon, Elena and most of all about Delena, often about Bamon and very seldom about Stelena.
LJS uses expressions like "What I feel in my heart", "I was carried away por my heart" etc. when talking about the Damon and Elena amor story.
Damon is her favourite character.
"Shadow Souls" is her favourite book (the one in which Stefan most of the time isn’t around and which is mostly about Damon and Elena).
LJS has a younger sister and knows much about being the older sibling what you can see in the stories about her private life and in her books [I have a younger sister myself]. Damon and Elena are the older siblings and LJS seems to prefer the older ones.
LJS has a thing for blonds [Elena] and for bad boys [Damon].
LJS is blond herself and shares some other characteristics with Elena (it is not unusual for an author to create characters like him- or herself). And she said in an interview about not being married: "Perhaps because I never met an unmarried man who could measure up to the ideal bad boyz in my head. No Damon […] has ever come my way."
LJS wants her books to be about the "ways of life": When you always go after your brother’s girls to annoy him, you could sooner or later lose your coração yourself. etc. She says that it is a story of redemption for everybody, but it is mostly for Damon (given his earlier lifestyle) and for Elena (who has to learn that she is not the center of the universe). And the books are also about "ways of love", what speaks for Delena.
The first scene of "Vampire Diaries" that LJS ever wrote was the one with the first encounter between Damon and Elena (in which Elena feels very drawn to Damon right from the start and almost kisses him without knowing who he is) [Awakening, 10].
LJS always tries to please as many fãs as possible and she knows very well that Delena has por far the biggest fanbase.
It is common knowlegde that LJS likes Delena and that she was fired because she fought for their love.
LJS was always considered a Delena shipper even long before she was fired.
Nobody ever denied that LJS was fired for wanting to end the books with Damon and Elena being together.
Everything that you can FEEL and all of the IMPRESSIONS that you get lead to LJS loving and prefering Delena. And she caused almost all of the fãs to become Delena fãs with what she wrote.
LJS said over and over from the start that the amor between Damon and Elena is real, not only a temptation and not meant as just an obstacle and that Stefan is NOT Elena’s one true love.
It is so unfair and respectless how the publishers treat their employee who brought them huge success (lots of bestsellers and even a couple of TV shows from them); they even still use her name although the new books are totally against what she wants. We should all thank Lisa Jane Smith for creating "Vampire Diaries" for us. We should fight for the rights of artists who very often have no rights to their own works, but only the author should have the right to do with his or her book what he or she wants to.

A fã wrote that it is comforting to know that Damon and Elena are l J Smith’s choice for endgame, but that it is also frustrating. We see the end, but we will never get it. It is so hard to live in the not-knowing shadow, another fã called it. And one said that it is hard to put the story aside without a Happy End (I and most other fãs decided not to read the books that weren’t written por LJS and to live without an end of the story instead). I think that these statements describe our pain very well. And the "Vampire Diaries"-books owe their huge success mostly to the enormous popularity of the Damon and Elena amor story.
I personally were never that into Urban fantasia and I usually don’t like anything about "Girl Power" or about outfits and styling, what is dealt with in the books very often, but I like the sobrenatural storylines. I don’t like amor triangles, but I saw the predetermination for Damon and Elena from the beginning, and there was never anything like that with Stefan. So, Damon shows up as Elena summons her future husband [Awakening, 11], and Damon and Elena – who both like to manipulate others – can’t influence each other much [Nightfall, 23+26 and Midnight, 38]. AND:

I personally don’t like the stories in the TV show, but I like the actors very much, and I have known almost all of them before TVD and already liked them then; and Ian Somerhalder’s ability with facial expression is mais than brilliant (no mortal can live up to Damon’s perfection, but Ian Somerhalder is the right choice to get close to it). But the stories are always the same, there is no variation: a group of vampires, a group of werewolves, a group of ghosts, a group of hybrids, a group of original vampires, … (the group of vampiros coming back as a group of ghosts is no real variation), and then something is needed to fight them (device making a high frequency sound, moonstone, necklace, white oak wood, …). If there will be a group of demons and a group of zombies, they won’t have any variation of their only storyline behind the amor stories anymore. But I – like many others – only watch because of Damon and the development of the Delena amor story anyway. The show-runners overdo it a little bit with Damon skrewing things up, Elena not being able to admit her real feelings and Damon stepping aside again and again, but I still like the slow uniting of Damon and Elena, and although much that is written in the books isn’t SAID in the show, we can FEEL it in everything about Delena.
It is usually said that mais than 80% of the TVD fãs are Delena shippers. I don’t know where this number exactly comes from, but it is mentioned over and over, on different websides, in different countries, everybody says so, and it is never denied. And you get the impression that our unarguably overwhelming majority is somewhere at that level, if you look at votings, pesquisas etc., and you always get that impression and feel that this number could be right when you look through the internet.
The votings, pesquisas etc. show that Delena are por far the most loved couple of TVD and one of the most or also the most loved couple with other filmes and TV shows included. They won or were at least nominated for many awards (and then only Damon and Delena were there or they get mais votes than the others) including categories like "Best Couple", "Best Kiss" etc. and "Best Love"-categories and "Most Romantic"-categories. The show-runners also know that and use Damon and Delena for advertising, previews, official appearances etc., and often Joseph morgan is sent with Ian Somerhalder when mais males are needed, because everybody knows who and what the fãs like most.
We notice Damon’s and Elena’s amor for each other on the TV show in every word, in every action, in every gesture, in every touch, in every look etc., and it becomes even stronger with the created atmosphere, the songs in the background and so on. And there are of course always the hints that are given and that we all know so well: Damon says to Elena that it is right – just not at that moment. Elena tells Damon that amor changes people, and Stefan says to Elena, after she started to become closer with Damon, that she changed. Elena says that Damon is under her skin and that she can’t shake him, and Matt replies that you can never shake it when you are really in love. Elena says that it consumes her when she is with Damon, and Damon told her at their first meeting that she wants a amor that consumes her – and passion, adventure and a little bit danger also sound like a relationship with Damon. Elena mentions several times that she feels seguro with Stefan, but Damon is actually the one who makes the decisions that save Elena’s life. Damon makes sure that Elena survives, and everything really bad and life-threatening usually happens when Damon is NOT with Elena. And all of the described aspects are what most people want in love. And there is also what Rose said about both relationships, what in my opinion leads to Delena because Elena like most others wants deep inside an overwhelming and true amor with all its good and bad sides (and Damon can’t really be the worst for her), and Rose also sees it herself as a sign for Delena (and challenge, surprise, questioning life and beliefs and best or worst also sound like real love).
So, Stefan could be the seguro choice. A fã wrote that he or she read all of the books and could never understand why Elena loves Stefan. I agree, because although I believe her that she loves him in a way, I never UNDERSTOOD it and I definitely never SAW it, they just DECIDED to amor each other, while the amor between Damon and Elena can be SEEN and FELT in everything although they both fight it all of the time. Elena feels seguro with Stefan in the show (why? ripper!), she chooses him because she (thinks that she) met him first (what is wrong), -but what kind of argument is that in love?-, and she likes that Stefan wouldn’t die without being killed (that is also true for Damon), but that is only something psychologically after her parents’ death. Elena and Stefan mostly behave like relatives or friends, and there can never be FELT anything (there is no passion or fire). Stefan may be Elena’s first love, but he definitely is NOT her true love. It is said in the books: "Yes. That was Stefan. Her love, but not her lover, willing to amor her chastely from now until the end of her days …" [Midnight, 42], while Elena claims to amor Damon and Stefan to the same extend, "drop for drop, grain for grain" [Midnight, 41], how she puts it. So, the amor is at the same level, but she has every aspect of love, affection, attraction, passion, desire etc. with Damon, her "beloved", how she calls him several times.
I personally would normally think this "willing to amor her chastely from now until the end of her days …" romantic, although not very realistic, but absolutely NOT, if one has everything with somebody else; that ruins the whole romanticism. I would always choose amor over lust, but that is NOT the pergunta here. This is the decision between only amor or amor and passion and so many other things at the same time. And every aspect of it is mentioned in the books, Damon and Elena have really everything together; and now that a big group of Delena fãs threatened to stop watching the TV show, the show-runners admitted that Elena loves Damon and is in amor with him (but why didn’t they say it before, and why can’t Elena say it on the show [it is the only real obstacle between Damon and Elena]?). It is also somehow a decision between mind and heart, because Elena TELLS herself (often panicly) and WANTS TO THINK that it is Stefan for her, while she FEELS that it is Damon for her what her BODY and her coração tell her again and again.
What Damon and Elena have is real love. You usually don’t end up with whom you think that you will, amor surprises you; and it is not unusual that pain, danger, insecurity etc. are involved. Most people (at least inside) want to be consumed por love, overwhelmed por it and filled up with it. They want to lose all control, be knocked out and be engaged por love, and they want to not be able to shake it off. And Elena also fits into that category. That Damon and Elena are united that slowly makes their amor even mais special, and almost all of the fãs FEEL the amor between these two (we can’t sit still, go "aaawwwwwww", react physically in many different ways, scream with joy or other things like that during affectionate Delena scenes). But Elena is on the show afraid of that kind of amor and of losing control, because she never experienced anything like it before; she just turned 18 and is still very young and unexperienced. Damon and Elena have both trouble with feelings, she with understanding true amor and he with dealing with emotions, and they are alike in this inability.
But Damon and Elena have everything together: love, being in love, friendship, affection, sympathy, protection, forgiveness, chemistry, attraction, passion, yearning, longing, desire, caring, electricity, ardor, excitement, welcomeness, sweetness, ecstasy, happiness, fun, predetermination, feeling right, compassion, fire, trust, understanding, seeing through each other, knowing each other, feeling for each other, belonging together, meaning much, being in each other’s heart, being drawn together and so much more. They also have a history of hate, betrayal, jealousy etc., but that is real love.
I personally don’t like episodes without any Delena much, although it is okay to have one from time to time, as long as there is something typical Damon in it; but I don’t like long Delena-free phases. So, how will things continue after season III? They say that there will always be the amor triângulo on the show, sometimes mais and sometimes less, but there will probably be less Delena now, when they concentrate on Elena’s new existence and with a Stelena relationship "for a while". We can hope for the times when Elena remembers what Damon compelled her to forget and perhaps some other things (Jeremy telling Elena about what Rose said??? Damon and Elena being reminded of their tender moments [when he leaves a chuveiro or when they stand on her porch or something like that, perhaps something being said]??? Are there surveillance cameras outside on motels?), but there can’t be much. In seasons I and II, we knew that there was mais to come, but now, it is really hard to go back to less after having mais than before. Even if Delena are really endgame and the show-runners decide to give the Stelena fãs almost the whole show and the Delena fãs the end, I don’t think that I would like to watch ten seasons or whatever Stelena only to get our well-deserved Delena end. But as soon as Elena understands her true feelings, admits to them and decides to be with Damon, there will be no way back for her. That is the reason why the show has to take its time before Damon and Elena can be together. They could show how things work out for them together, concentrate on a background story and show how Stefan deals with the new situation (hopefully por being with Katherine), but the amor story would be finally over for good. Damon and Elena could skrew up their relationship again for a short while, but Elena can’t go back to her seguro zone after experiencing true love, and Delena would work out their problems again soon, because they know that they really amor each other and can’t be without the other.
Now that Elena is a vampire, she doesn’t have to fear danger that much anymore and she will be mais open to passion, what makes her amor for Damon easier to handle for her. And most importantly, she will remember what Damon compelled her to forget, for example their first meeting (that she met him first AND how attracted to him she was right from the start AND what he said about what she wants in love) and – what we all waited for for so long – when Damon told Elena that he loved her and made her forget about it again with tears rolling down his cheeks; and perhaps, there is something else that even the viewers don’t know about yet. But although vampiros can see things mais clearly, are mais affected por their emotions etc., they DON’T have different feelings than when they were still human. Elena can change her mind when she has all of the information involved and knows everything that we viewers already know about, but she shouldn’t have different opinions with different forms of being. Elena has to choose Damon because she finally knows about everything and because she got in touch with her true inner feelings and not because she is a vampire. Perhaps, they find a way to turn her back into a human, and Damon would be willing to give her up because he knows that she will be happier as a mortal; and although everybody expects her to go back to Stefan as a human, she still – with the knowledge about all of the events AND about her true feelings inside – sticks with Damon who is her true love. Even with her staying a vampire, she should at least SAY that now that she knows everything, she changes her mind and chooses Damon, but that her decision would be the same as a vampire, a human and everything else, because it is a decision of the coração and not of a form of being.
The Stelena fãs can’t really be happy, although they usually get the decisions they wanted, but it is clear to everybody that those are "tainted" decisions. There are always the hints that lead to Delena, while Stelena has never any real depth or fire. Elena has still some unfinished business with Stefan, and their relationship has to come to a "natural" end. So, Elena had to choose Stefan for now to find out how things will work out, so that nobody can say that Damon and Elena only got together because Stefan left to save Damon, because Stefan became bad or something like that. Elena only sticks to Stefan out of guilt, loyalty and fear, because she feels seguro with him (really?) and because she fears her deep and true amor for Damon, a amor that she never experienced before.
We Delena fãs always get so close to what we want without ever really reaching it (what is even made worse por misleading previews and false promises). And all of the beautiful Damon and Elena scenes that we get are destroyed again right away. We never get anything for a period of time, because everything is taken from us directly after it was given to us. We never get anything solid, something that we could keep, there is nothing left of what we once got, and Elena never says anything about having something for Damon most or does anything mais with Damon than with everybody else. There are usually pauses with less Delena before and after the special Damon and Elena moments, and all of that makes it even mais painful for us members of the Delena squad.
A few words about the Bamon fans: Damon and Bonnie have a kind of father-daughter-relation without ANY passion in the books, but the TV show Bonnie is a "cross-section" of all of Elena’s friends in the books and is mais like the book-Meredith than the book-Bonnie. She is a vampire-skeptic and one of the few who are immune to Damon’s charm, and Damon would need a weak, sensitive, needy bird like the Bonnie in the books to protect, but even that would have nothing to do with REAL love.
But Katherine and Stefan are a great couple. They have that sweet amor story in the early books, are so much alike and see the world in the same way, while Katherine tells Stefan in the TV show over and over that he really loved her and that she didn’t influence him to do so. And in the books and in the show, Katherine always loves Stefan most, and they fit together perfectly.
So, we Delena fãs hope that there is a reason why Katherine keeps on telling Stefan that he really loved her, like we hope that we will get our well-deserved Delena end, because nobody can deny that there is a meaning in everything said and done on the show that leads to Damon and Elena as endgame. We hope that the show-runners only want to increase the popularity of Delena with giving us hope before destroying those hopes again and again, increasing our desperation, mostly talking about Stelena etc. (perhaps even the Ian Somerhalder/Nina Dobrev-relationship). But we fear that the show-runners only give us the Damon-and-Elena-moments just in time before we would give up (together with misleading previews etc.) to keep us watching and that we will never get anything real.
We have the overwhelming majority, but we never got anything solid so far, and our hopes are destroyed all of the time. That increases our pain and our desperation, but it also causes mais and mais fãs to cadastrar-se the Delena fanbase. Even lots of neutral fãs say por now that they have enough of this "will they/ won’t they"-thing and hope for a Damon-and-Elena-relationship, because everybody feels sorry for Damon, the neutrals want to see all sides of the amor story and we Delena fãs deserve a Delena-relationship after what we went through and after already waiting for so long. And even outside of the TVD world, Damon and Elena got the reputation of the couple that is not allowed to be together and of forbidden love, so that many feel with us Delena fãs and also hope for Damon and Elena as endgame even when they don’t read the books or watch the TV show.
It is so unfair that a few can ruin it for almost everybody else. We have the clear and outright majority and that will never change, we have the original author who invented the whole story, and the fact that almost everybody understands the story in our way – and that it was meant like we see it – should tell the others something, especially when they look at the numbers, and the fact that the overwhelming majority prefers Delena has a reason. We considered the books a "clear thing" for a Delena end and they were taken from us, we were given beautiful Damon-and-Elena-scenes on the show and they were destroyed again directly afterwards every single time, we were given lots of hints leading to Delena but we never got anything to keep. All of this are perfect examples for destroyed hopes, because we are always so close and never get what we already thought of as "a sure thing", and all of that makes it even mais painful for us. We never got anything solid so far, although everybody KNOWS that everything leads to Delena and that close to everybody wants them to be endgame. But we will always have each other (I only get over the pain because of all of you other members of the Delena squad), we have the clear and outright majority and the original author on our side, we are right and we still hope.
