"If I have to choose between you and the witch again..."
Damon's line in 2x18 got me to thinking. I know, here she goes again lol. Damon has made a lot of choices when it comes to Bonnie and either doesn't realize it or he chooses to ignore that fact. Here is a list of time Damon has chosen Bonnie, feel free to add any other times.
2x18 Damon chose to stop dancing with Dopple to go dance and talk with Bonnie. Damon chose to stay with Bonnie this episode to come up with a plan to "save her life" and told Dopple to go find Stefan knowing Klaus and crew were in the building. Damon made a promise to Dopple but when Bonnie confided in him and wanted him to keep the secret about her sacrificing herself, Damon broke a promise to Dopple for Bonnie and told Stefan he changed his mind. Damon chose to take the hate from Dopple than to give up Bonnie's secret. Damon after that statement also chose to do all he can to keep Bonnie alive and help her even if means not being around dopple.
Damon chose to stay with Bonnie back at the house with Bonnie, Jerms, John, Alaric, and Elijah instead at the sacrificial site of dopple where dopple had to die to get Klaus to transition. Damon made sure to kill Greta the witch to make sure Greta didn't interfere or hurt Bonnie in the process. Damon goes to check on Stefan and he stares over at Bonnie even after Stefan tells him to take Dopple and go.
Damon chooses the jerk route with Bonnie because he knows she's stubborn and would react. He uses his jerkiness to motivate Bonnie to be better. He pushes her to become a stronger individual and an ally. Also in his jerkiness, he's honest with Bonnie and tells her what he thinks even if it sounds harsh.
Damon chooses to trust Bonnie judgment and takes her words to coração and acts upon them. Ex. given Alaric a chose to lives. Does he truly do that for Dopple? Does he give Dopple the same freedom and respect to choose her own path or make her own decisions?
Damon chooses to think about Bonnie when she is not around even though he is around the "love" of his life rme We've heard on several occasions him wanting Bonnie there or making a comment about Bonnie not being in the loop. now whether that is conscious of subconscious the chose of the thoughts being there are his.
Damon chose to save Bonnie's life because he had no choice after seeing Bonnie "dead", he couldn't see her like that again. That's my thought and I stand por it lol The giving of blood wasn't a threat or a way to manipulate Stefan or anyone but to save Bonnie.
Damon chose to save both Dopple and Bonnie por turning Abby. The thing that is interesting about this is that he didn't want to turn Abby but the original moved up the time Damon though he had to make a plan to save everyone. Did he give take that much consideration when he turned Dopple's mom?

One time is in 2x10 and yes this actually before the that line so that make me go hmmm. He goes to the tomb where Katherine is but gets called away because of Rose. Damon chose to go with her to see Shane instead of going to look for Dopple with Stefan and he leaves because Stefan called him.

He also wanted to invite himself to go with Bonnie to see Abby, after he took it upon himself to find her mother. All of that wasn't for Dopple but Bonnie even the self invite on the road trip. He was focused on Bonnie until Dopple not Bonnie said he couldn't go.
