British actress Nichola Fynn is making her mark in America and beyond. Most recently she guest starred on the popular TV Land laugher “Hot in Cleveland” and coming up she’ll appear in the sci-fi thriller “Altered Perception.”
Of course, audiences will recognize her from her work in the Bond blockbuster “Skyfall” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” She’s also lent her talents to the indie world, including Jennifer Blanc-Biehn’s directorial film debut, “The Night Visitor” and writer/director Kate Rees Davies dramatic short “Broken,” which screened at Cannes.
I recently caught up with Nichola Fynn to find out more.
Tell us about your role in “Hot in Cleveland.”
NICHOLA: In the episode “Bossy Cups,” I played the guest estrela role of ‘Olivia’ who quickly got renamed as ‘New Joy’ during the epsiode when she becomes fast friends with Victoria (Wendie Malick) and Elka (Betty White). Victoria is asked to create lifestyle vídeos for her website and the producers want to follow ‘Joy and Victoria’s friendship’. But instead of Joy playing herself, Olivia is hired to play her.
How was it to work alongside Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick?
NICHOLA: It was an absolute dream come true to work alongside these comedy veterans, including the legendary Betty White, Wendie Malick, Janes Leeves, Valerie Bertinelli, plus special guest stars Robert Wagner and Will Sasso. Everyone made me feel at início and there was such a warm inviting spirit on set. I had to pinch myself as it all felt so surreal. Here I was, little old me, surrounded por these inspiring actors and atrizes that I admired growing up. Even after I finished rehearsing I could have gone home, but instead I stayed to watch the other scenes being rehearsed and performed. I couldn’t get enough, it was amazing.
The opportunity to work with these actors and atrizes felt like an advanced class in comedy. It made me fall in amor with atuação all over again. They were days full of laughs that I won’t soon forget.
What would you consider your characters ‘best’ quality? And their ‘worst’?
NICHOLA: I loved Olivia/New Joy’s view on life and people. She is likeable, super positive and upbeat. She sees the good in everyone and is always smiling no matter what. I’m pretty similar to her in that respect. I am definitely a happy person and I always try to have a smile on my face. I think you can learn a lot from having a positive outlook on life.
I’d say her downfall is she doesn’t think before she speaks, so she can probably say something without really meaning it.
Any interesting stories from the set you can share with us?
NICHOLA: On my last day, the actual dia of filming, I got to set super early as I was excited. However I was probably too excited as I couldn’t keep still. I was in my dressing room and just put the phone down from talking to my family in the UK and I thought I would just make sure I cheirado, cheirava, smelt nice and tidy up my makeup to pass the time. I grabbed my deodorant and I didn’t really need to spray any on as I was ok but I went ahead anyways. Instead of checking I just sprayed without thinking and it went into my eye rather than my underarm. OMG, I was in so much pain I panicked and grab some cold water splashed it in my eye which did nothing, of course, but make it worse. I didn’t want to cause a drama on set but I was worried! I bumped into a PA and told her what had happened so she called someone to come pick me up and rush me to medic at the studios. Talk about drama…LOL! Not exactly what I had in mind for my first taping. Luckily, the medic saw my eye and joked, “Good job” and then assured me I should be ok por the evening taping. She gave me eye drops, which stung like hell, but least I knew it was going to get better. Gosh it was so red, I was pretty upset thinking ‘typical clutsy Nichola’ I’m going to have a red eye for my first big comedy role. Obviously, when I got to set I was the butt of every joke. I have a great sense of humor so I was playing along as it was really funny! I mean who does that?! Hehe! Luckily por the evening it had cleared up and I was ready for my closeup!!
What’s the biggest lesson you learned from working on this project?
NICHOLA: Never bring deodorant ‘spray’ on set ever again!!!! Well, the roll on kind is totally fine – Hehe!
To enjoy what you amor and to have fun! To watch some of my idols work, made me realize how lucky I am to be doing a job I love. They seem to do their work with such ease and it was such a reminder that if you enjoy something that much even at your worse you will always pick yourself up and it will all be ok in the end.
And, now just for fun:
What’s your favorito food?
NICHOLA: Gosh, comida in general! I could talk about comida all day! I am in love! Probably my favourite has to be mainly British dishes (Of course I am a little biased): Battered peixe and Chips (& curry, caril sauce!), English Breakfast, Traditional Roast jantar (My family do the best!), Bangers and Mash / Toad in the Hole, My Mum’s Meatballs, beans and mash (it’s amazing!), Steak, mushrooms and Fries with peppercorn sauce!, Asian Food- Steamed Dumplings & Chicken Stir-fry’s, and I loved my vegetables especially like Brussel Sprouts and parsnips!

In & Out Burger (Obsessed!)…Animal Fries are my favourite, Local Peasant- Fried Olives and cebola Rings, boa, jiboia Steakhouse- (Best bife ever had in my life!), Crave (Food is gorgeous in here), Chicken and waffles at Steampunk Café, Chin Chins -Singapore Noodles

NICHOLA: I amor gatos and Dogs; however I am mainly a cat lady! I’m crazy about them! I have two gatos back in UK I miss them terribly. But they have an amazing life with my family. Sadly I lost one of them recently I am devastated but it comforts me to know he had a great life with us!
Favorite movie from your childhood.
NICHOLA: I am a huge fã of disney movie’s so it’s a very hard choice! If I had to choose my favourite has to be ‘Hocus Pocus’. I am so in amor with this movie! I must’ve watched it a million times yet it still gets me all excited whenever I’m about to watch it again! The performances are amazing and the música gives me goosebumps. It’s absolutely hilarious and yet there is a big coração felt message: ‘You never appreciate what you have until you lose it’.
Tell us one thing that would surprise our readers to learn about you.
NICHOLA: There are many things to learn. I guess people get shocked at how many times I have been to Disneyland/Disneyworld. I went to disney World in Florida twice a ano every ano as a child, and since I’ve been living in LA I have been countless time with my annual pass. I can’t get enough; I’m disney obsessed!

Blue was the name of Jay-Z's old girlfriend before Beyonce. And blue is much mais prettier than Beyonce.
The biggest pergunta is... How could beyonce let jay_z name the baby blue?
Yes, Blue is a pretty name but its taken in a slot of Jay-Z's past!
Blue looks JUST like Beyonce, so why not name her Beyonce?
