It was a normal Thursday around the town of Pelothia on Cat Island. In this whimsical land only spoken of in fantasy, gatos are considered deities. They rule over the small towns, such as Pelothia(my início town), Felicia, and Crysarium.

Pelothia is a town known for their food. From cat cakes to catfish the town's supplies were abundant. Their ruler, Penothy, is a black cat that rules over the town. Felicia is a vacation spot known for their beaches and fun. Felice, the ruler, is kind and fun loving and has many festivals. Finally, Crysarium is known for their gems and jewels. Their ruler, Crystal, is strict on running the mines.

Anyway, with information out of the way, my name is Petal. My role around town is to fish. Everyday I went out and did a routine. I would go out in my barco and cast my nets to catch tuna and catfish. Then, I would open my store around lunchtime, attracting hungry customers to my stalls. Then, I would head início and sleep the night. Just repeat that a million times and that's my life.

But today was different. Today was the annual Kitten Festival to celebrate humans and gatos being one. To commemorate the party, 10 humans would become half cat. They would have cat ears and other cat things, but they would have human bodies. The process was called felineization.

The festival was going quite well. I was selling peixe like there was no tomorrow, and nine citizens had been chosen. But out of the blue, after I had sold ten codfish sandwiches to a fine tabby, he demanded I went up on stage.

As I trudged slowly up the staircase, I wondered what was going on. I couldn't be the last human to be marked, could I? I started racking my brain of why else the gatos would want me up there. Torture? Embarrassment? DEATH?! I began to feel anxious.

I came into the spotlight. The ruler, Penothy, began to give a speech.

"Welcome, one and all," she said,"to the Kitten festival. This woman has done something remarkable today that I have to comment on. She did something quite impacting. We will preform all needed actions to ensure it does not go without notice."

What is she talking about, I thought, does she know about the cat bolinho, queque I took? Perhaps she does, and now I will receive an unbearable punishment! Will I be locked in the dungeon, or banished off the island, or banished then thrown in a dungeon in that location?!

"Well," Penothy said," I will now announce what fate I have in store for this human."

I close my eyes tightly as I anticipated with dread on the words about to come from the rulers mouth.
