Erin, Frank and Danny work together within the system to find justice when a rape case's primary suspect is protected by diplomatic immunity.
"Priviledge"
In this week's case, a series of sexual assaults on a college campus are traced back to an Argentine diplomat's son, whose father refuses to waive diplomatic immunity.

How the Reagans get around that diplomatic immunity and nail the jerk is impressive, and a commendable family effort. For once, everyone is on the same side. Everyone but Jamie's upper-class fiancé, that is.

Erin's usual "the law is there for a reason" mesa de jantar argument is taken up this week por Syd. She and Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) knock heads over whether diplomatic immunity is ever a good thing. Syd points out that immunity also protects Americans abroad. "World's a lot bigger than the five boroughs," she tells him. Danny says, "I'm sorry I didn't get to spend my junior ano abroad, like you. I had my hands full in Fallujah."

That's the first time (correct me if I'm wrong) that we've heard Danny refer to being an Iraq War vet. We also find out that Frank served 30 years as a cop before becoming commissioner. No wonder these guys side with the working-class joes instead of the upper-class elite. The show itself comes down firmly on the side of the rape victim's electrician father, rather than the slippery diplomat and his contemptuous, entitled wife and son.

Jamie's relationship with Syd looks just as doomed as Frank's secret affair with reporter Kelly, who seems to be using Frank for her news scoops. Frank tells her it's over but I'm sure that's not the last we've seen of Kelly.

Erin, meanwhile, notably pulls a case-breaking court order out of her hat. It's nice to see her working with her family instead of against them, for a change. And to see hot-headed Danny advising the aggrieved victim's father to let the case play out instead of meting out his own justice with a gun.

The episode wraps with a rare sense of family harmony. The only trouble spot is on the Blue Templar storyline, when Jamie quizzes Grandpa about the pin Danny wears in an old photo. Grandpa says the organization was formed to clean up the police, insists it's all ancient history, and then quickly changes the subject.
