Do you have to know about the history of batman (i.e comics and anterior films and televisão shows) to be classed as a real fã of Batman?

The history of batman as in the fictional character's Histroy, i.e his parents dying is a must know. But the actual history, i.e past writers, I would say not necessarily although that's the kind of knowledge, that even without research accumulates over time.
