Avatar: The Last Airbender Pergunta

Is bending something you can learn or something you have to inherit?

I was wondering about this because neither Katara's nor Toph's parents were benders so where did they get their ability to bend? Is anyone just able learn how to bend? If that was true, it would be fruitless for the fogo Nation to hunt benders, because once they left, mais people could just learn to bend. Also, it would mean a bender could learn how to bend mais than one element. So then is bending an ability you just randomly get?

It has been said por the creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino that it also has to do with spirituality that is why all Air Nomads are Airbenders.
Laslty one must have what they call a talent for bending.

But, then again, maybe the other villagers never got a chance to show thier powers?
I agree that your bending power comes from your nationality though.

I was wondering that as well because in the episode "The Cave of Two Lovers" the two first earth benders Oma and Shu learned from the bagger moles and so did Toph. I believe it can be tout por the original benders themselves. Dragons, Bisons, Bagger moles and the Moon Spirit. I don`t understand how all Air nomads were Air benders it is a confusing topic.
