Rozen Maiden was my first anime, it's still as awesome as it was when I first watched it few years ago. I watched it over and over again this year. It has a hidden message behind it. Even though it's about bonecas trying to be the "perfect doll" in order to meet their creator (who they call "Father"), there is a meaning behind this. Shinku's (the fifth doll) famous quote: "To live is to fight" has a special meaning. Because the bonecas are meant to fight each other to "win", we can apply the quote "to live is to fight" to this. However, you could also say that to live is to fight, because in order to "succeed" or "go to Heaven" or "be enlightened". The bonecas were given a purpose por their creator to become "perfect". It's a bit like us, except that we were not given a purpose. We don't know why we live, why we fight to live, but we continue to fight even though we don't know where we are going.
So yeah, this is one of the reasons why Rozen Maiden is my favorito show. It also has it's hilarious moments. I recommend it to...well I don't know. I didn't know I could possibly like a show with bonecas in it (I'm a guy) so I guess I recommend it to anyone who is curious.

Fate/Stay Night and Ah! My Goddess are really good animes too.
