How do you get over writer's block ?

So I've found I get writer's block pretty often recently and I'd like to know how other people overcome it !

I tend to try to get rid of it por making up new things from the anime/manga I follow (such as zanpakutō, Devil Fruit, magic, characters etc. etc.) as a way to try and reinvigorate my creative mind.
Unfortunately doing all of this has a low success rate and I usually still find myself in the clutches of writer's block...

*sigh*
How do you get over writer's block ?

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciated !

Writer's block? Ah, that mischievous fairy that sneaks into our minds through our nostrils and steals away inspiration...a cruel acquaintance I know all too well [Insert rest of Mercutio Monologue; source--Romeo and Juliet].

'Overcome' isn't the word I'd use for my method. I just ignore it until it goes away. If I don't feel inspired to write, I won't push myself too hard. I'll sit and think about it for a while, but if nothing comes to mind or if I don't feel motivated, I'll just say 'screw it' and come back to it when I feel like it. I mean, what else is there to do? If I force it, I'll just end up composição literária garbage and I'll toss it out. And even if I don't toss it out and end up using what I write, I usually come to regret it later.

That's why I always write down any inspiration I have or go back and read my old composição literária often, just to make sure I don't lose the motivation or idea when I find it, even if it's not the time for it. Inspiration is a precious thing....writer's block is an annoying friend you just keep ignoring whenever it starts to annoy you.

But then comes the time where I want to write, but for the life of me, cannot work up any good ideas, maybe because I have the time on my hands. In that case, I'll force it with no intention of using what I write, hoping inspiration will come to me in the middle of it and I'll switch gears to composição literária properly.

Coincidentally, this method resulted in a single word document countless pages long, filled with long paragraphs and dialogues that I'm never going to use but keep hording because I hate to eliminar anything. I even went out of my way to transfer the whole thing to a hard drive when my computer crashed...

Writer's block... just the thought of it makes me wanna throw something out the window. Though it doesn't happen to me often, when it does it can stay for weeks, sometimes even a mês or more. I've researched this countless times and have never found a single method that works for me. Like exorcist said its best to just try and ignore it until you get inspired to write. Something I do sometimes though (it may or may not work for you) is to go to a quiet place with a view and read the works of one of my favorito authors, namely Charles Dickens. Like I said I do this at times but it only works like half the time for me.

No answer has worked for me entirely. Sometimes I'm full of ideas, and then I hit the wall. My most common response is the one both exorcist and Cryo supported, which is to ignore it. I've got plenty of work I could be doing, so I tend to immerse myself in that, and eventually something comes to me.

The segundo one is one Cryo mentioned as well, which is to go out and get inspiration from other writings, filmes or shows. This really only works well if I have a basic idea to start, since it provides ideas for plot devices and such. I can't say that it commonly gets me out of full on ruts, but it's a help in cobbling together ideas, and often I'll find ways to utilize two or three ideas in concert.

Lastly, I sometimes find talking to people to be a big help. Taking it a step further and working with them on a project where you can bounce ideas off each other directly is even better, but never underestimate the power of an email. It's the reason I really miss Meebo, actually, as it wasn't just useful for chatting with friends, but also to discuss ideas in real time. It can still be done elsewhere, but it just doesn't feel the same anymore. Still, I recommend discussion. Even getting a basis for an idea from talking to someone else can unleash a torrent of ideas.
