[Evil Draws Near! Another Angel?]
Otonashi is standing there looking at him. He smiles at Hinata, knowing that he had given his all to try and save him. Around him lie the others from SSS. Defeated. God looks back at him, an eerie sneer on his face, which is partially covered por his long fringe. Otonashi tells him that it doesn't have to be like this, then looks down as Hinata slowly dies. They hug, knowing that they would have been great friends if they had met whilst alive. God laughs at him, as Hinata finally fades away. Otonashi stands up and looks at God. He tells him that he shouldn't have to worry about the pain and asks why he's doing this, why he's treating others so terribly. God just laughs and begins to recite his story of what had happened to him and why he hates everyone. por the end, Otonashi realises that it's not really his fault and that he could change if he wants to. He tells God this and then, without warning, draws the younger looking boy into a hug. Suddenly, God is crying, great tears of despair and pain
Again, Otonashi woke up, cursing the stupid dreams that plague him every time he goes to sleep. If only there was a way that he could stop thinking about these thoughts. Every time they occurred it was to recall a moment of sadness, or pain. Otonashi just couldn't urso thinking about it.
'Morning...'
Otonashi looked around to see Ratoko staring at him. 'Oh, morning.'
Ratoko had a look of understanding on his face and looked as though he was feeling sorry for Otonashi, or something. 'I heard you crying in your sleep... I guess, you must have had a rough time here, in order to be still dreaming about that kind of stuff. You okay?'
'Yeah... I'm fine. I just seem to keep remembering the painful thoughts, rather than the happy ones... Strangely enough, I actually have mais happy ones from being here... I just don't get why the other ones keep coming up, instead of the happy ones...'
'Sounds pretty bad... Well, if there's anything I can ever do, just let me know... Even if it is just to talk, or something... You know?'
Otonashi smiled. 'You know, maybe there is... If we went for a walk somewhere, could I tell you about the happy times I had with the former SSS members? It might help me to start dreaming about those, instead.'
Ratoko nodded, a perceptive look on his face. 'Yeah, I can do that. What about her, though?' he said, looking over at Mikune, who was still asleep.
'Never mind... She will probably berate us when we get back, but it's okay... We'll just say that we were searching for God and that we were discussing ideas with each other... She is asleep, so she can't exactly do anything about it, or say that we weren't... Besides, I've been trying to help her since you guys came here... And it's been a while, it's time for a break for us, I think.'
'Yeah, you're right. Okay, then, I guess we should get going.'
They left the building, closing the door quietly, so the other two wouldn't wake up. On the way, Otonashi began to tell Ratoko about his stories from all of the happy times he had with Yuri, Hinata and the others, but, mostly, Kanade, whom he had been thinking of almost every dia since she had disappeared.
'When I first came here, I was shocked. A red haired girl, called Yuri, was right in front of me and I had no idea where I was. So, instead of listening to her, which I didn't really, I ended up running outside and was confronted por Angel. I tried to talk to her, but she ended up stabbing me. So, yeah, that's what happened when I arrived here. I'm glad you came here in much mais peaceful times.'
Ratoko nodded, then he changed into a questioning look, which appeared as suddenly as the slight grin disappeared. 'Oh, do you remember how you died? I'm only asking, because I don't and I'm kind of interested now. Then, you can tell me about the happy times.'
'Yeah, I'll explain it quickly... It's still a painful memory. Basically, after doing nothing with my life, I ended up deciding to go to Medical College, since I wanted to help others. I had to take the subway to get there and, during the train-ride, there was an earthquake and the train crashed, while the tunnels collapsed in front and behind us. I got a wound and, though I had little training, I tried to help as many of the casualties as possible. However, nobody came for us and people started starving. During this time, my wound got worse and worse, then, one day, I just couldn't do it any mais and I died. Then, I was here.'
'That sounds horrible. Okay, I'll stop asking you about the painful stuff now. Why don't you tell me a funny story?'
'Yeah, sure. Well, one day, we decided to undertake a mission to sabotage the test scores of Angel, so she would be taken off the student council and would no longer be Student Council President. During class, we had Christ, who was actually called Takeyama, sabotage her scores, during interruptions caused por Hinata. Yuri had Hinata sit on a chair designed to launch him up into the air... A rocket chair, I guess you could call it. Anyway, he had sit in it for the whole lesson, while Yuri would set it off every few minutos to ensure that Christ messed with Angel's answers. Hinata wasn't happy por the time class was over' Otonashi grinned, trying hard not to laugh too hard.
'Hahahaha!!! Oh, that's funny! I wish I could have met that guy... He sounds hilarious!'
'Yeah, he was a great guy, though... I hope that I meet him again one day.'
Suddenly, there came an explosion and a girl appeared before them. She was weaing the same uniform that Kanade had been, and also had silver hair, however, she was taller and looked much meaner, as well as angry and spiteful, rather than emotionless, like Kanade had been.
'You two! Why aren't you in class?!'
Otonashi frowned.
What the hell? She couldn't possibly be... Could she?
He pulled Ratoko back, as she lunged at them, a sword extending from her arm. They rolled backwards, then jumped up, just as she went to strike again. Luckily, she missed and they began to run in the opposite direction, hoping to avoid her.
'What the hell was that?!' Ratoko demanded.
'I don't know... It's like, angel is back again, except a different one this time... It isn't Kanade. But, I don't understand this... Where did she come from?'
Ratoko frowned and they continued running. 'Let's just get back to the room... I don't want to get stabbed and die... Who knows what would happen...'
Otonashi grinned. 'Actually, you just return back to here, but dying is still painful, so we should definitely avoid it!'
'You return back here?! Weird... Oh well, let's keep going, it looks like she's starting to catch up!'
They kept running, hoping to outrun, but it became clear that wasn't going to happen. They stopped and turned around, just as she caught up to them.
'Where did you come from? Who made you?' Otonashi requested, ready to dodge at any moment. She didn't answer and lunged again.
'Dammit!'
'Otonashi!' Ratoko cried, as angel shoved Otonashi backwards, sending him flying, then she extended her arm, which turned into a strange-looking device. Then, suddenly, it launched a beam of light, which devoured him. Everything went black.
