Are the chipettes & chipmunks siblings?

The chippets are sisters and the chipmunks are brothers so they're not siblings

I feel like it's implied in the filmes that the Chipmunks and the Chipettes are siblings through adoption but they also mais heavily imply a romantic relationship. Honestly, it kind of turns my stomach. They are sleeping in the same room and have the same guardian but they have crushes on each other.
