Henna

So my mom is crazy strict. Unreasonably strict. Crazy paranoia strict. I'm 14 and I have never walked down the rua of my neighborhood por myself because I will surely be kidnapped... at least according to my mom. She has always been apposed to hair dye, but I kind of want to try red henna. I started thinking about hair dye when my whole family went over to my friends house, whose mom is also my mom's best friend. When we went over my friends mom was in the process of dying her hair pink. This got me thinking about hair dye. My mom isn't apposed to my friends mom doing it and even half-joked that she should do arco iris, arco-íris seguinte and looked at pictures with her.

I'm really bored with my look. I'm not really allowed to experiment. Anything mais than like an inch above the knee is a no, anything trendy is a no, tank tops are a never, you get the idea. I wear jeans, capris, and boy shorts in combination with a t-shirt. That's it. I'm kind of good with it, I'm generally a practical person and not all that interested in fashion, for example I would NEVER wear heels. But I want to experiment somehow and I think henna might be the way to do it that my parents might maybe allow. I have brown hair with some natural blonde highlights in the summer and when I am in the sun my hair already looks red so it wouldn't be a huge change just to go reddish auburn. Do you think I should even bother asking my mom about it or is it a fools errand? I have always secretly wanted redder hair, but have always assumed my mom would get mad at me just for asking.

I mentioned henna and my mom said that she used to do it on her hair! I'm hopeful that she will be willing to let me do mine... I didn't ask her then since she was really stressed and in a bad mood, but I'll ask her when she is in a better mood and my room is clean

Hmmm. What will the punishment be if you dye your hair? Like will you be grounded, or have a stern talking to, or something harsher?

I feel bad giving this advice, but if the punishment won't be so bad, then I say go for it. You're a teenager and hair dye is hardly the end of the world (not to mention that it's also not permanent unlike, say, a tattoo). It's something you want to do so fuck it tbh. And I'm guessing your mom will say no, so don't ask. Because if you ask first and she says no and then you do it anyway, that's tricky territory. Plus you have the plausible excuse afterward of being like "well you liked my friend's mom's hair so I thought you wouldn't mind if I did it."

However, if the punishment is that you'll be beaten or something brutal like that, obviously don't do it.

Sadly there is no way I can get henna without her knowing... I'm homeschooled lucky me. And I never leave her sight... she would probably ground me. I might ask her if I can but I'm not sure. She has mentioned how she liked henna tatuagens before so maybe it won't be that much of a stretch...?
